What We Do
Here at Kisima Trust we believe that all people deserve to live the best quality of life. We aim to tackle the many aspects of poverty people in rural Kenyan villages face. We as a charity do not focus on simply one element of survival such as providing food or shelter, but with the help of donations we are running a number of projects to help communities develop independence, grow and flourish in their own right.
The money raised is split between numerous projects. Thanks to donations we have purchased several plots of land and various seed. We are successfully growing and harvesting grains such as wheat and sorghum (an ancient super grain) and other plants such as cabbage, kale and tomatoes. We have brought together families and many members of the community to work the land to produce healthy crops that will go on to feed the community.
Hens for Eggs
In addition to growing crops, we also have a hen farm running providing eggs as a healthy source of nourishment for those in need who we support. We currently have over 100 hens being cared for by our members. We have also started a project where we give two hens for eggs to various families in need. In addition to hen farming we have set up a honey farm, where we harvest honey.
At Kisima trust we believe that for people to live life to the full they should be able to express themselves via hobbies and outlets. Our founder Nathan has a passion for art and has been sketching for many years. With money raised Nathan is now running a weekly Art class for local children and adults. This is a great opportunity for people to learn a new skill, find a fun weekly outlet and express themselves in new ways.
Alongside helping the people in local communities we are committed to protecting our environment and battling issues such as climate change. We understand the importance of protecting our environment. We have several tree nurseries and will continue planting and growing new trees. This is also a good, constructive project for the local youth to take part in.
